In the past few months we have met some incredibly talented young people. For this week’s Friday night blog post we wanted to share some of the exciting things a couple of these people have been up to.
Christian Silver was in Year 10 at Kirstin School in Auckland when he attended the StrategyNZ: Mapping our Future workshop in March 2011 as part of his school’s robotics team. He then went back to Kristin School and ran his own strategy mapping workshop where he got 40 of his peers to map strategies for their school in the year 2021.
This year Christian joined us at the EmpowerNZ: Drafting a constitution for the 21st century. On the final day of the workshop he developed an interactive web version of the Draft Constitution that was produced – which can be found at: empowernzconstitution.org.
Christian’s latest project is an app called ‘Sling Defense’, – which is a game that involves slinging fruit at animals descending from the sky to stop them crashing into your cabins. Click here to get the app for iPhone, or here for Android.
Another bright young person we have met more recently is Leona Paisier. We recently blogged about her efforts to prevent New Zealand King Salmon expand their aquaculture operations in the Marlborough Sounds. Last night she was featured on Campbell Live. You can view the piece here.
If you know of other young people doing amazing things, drop us a line.
Have a great Labour Weekend,
All the best Wendy and the team.
