Wellington-based network of young, independent thinkers, JustSpeak are officially releasing their position paper, Māori and the Criminal Justice System: A Youth Perspective.
An evening launch will be held at the start of next month, and attendees will join Hon Dr Pita Sharples, Justice Joseph Williams, Moana Jackson and Sir Edward ‘Eddie’ Taihakuerei Durie at the event. Guests will have the opportunity to pick up a copy of the paper and meet the members of JustSpeak to discuss the project over drinks and nibbles.
JustSpeak is a non-partisan network of young people encouraging a new generation of debate around criminal justice issues in order to achieve a more just Aotearoa. They hold regular forums on such issues, and this paper was born out of one such forum held on Māori and the criminal justice system.
