At the TacklingPovertyNZ Gisborne workshop held on 31 August 2016, participants discussed challenges and opportunities in the local area. Six key themes and groups emerged: working families/working poor, gangs and drug users, children under 12, mental health, elderly, and Māori. From these, 69 ‘hows’ to tackle poverty were identified.
We are seeking to further stress-test these ‘hows’ through a public survey. The survey will help us shape the content of the discussion paper, which will be given to the Chief Economist at the New Zealand Treasury.
The survey will be open until Monday, 31 October 2016. You can complete the survey here.
