At the TacklingPovertyNZ Kaitaia workshop held on 15 September 2016, participants discussed challenges and opportunities in the local area. Six key themes and groups emerged: communication and mapping, geographic isolation, changing the poverty mind-set, grandparents raising grandchildren, education and Māori. From these, 31 ‘hows’ to tackle poverty were identified.

We are seeking to further stress-test these ‘hows’ through a public survey. The survey will help us shape the content of the discussion paper, which will be given to the Chief Economist at the New Zealand Treasury.

The survey will be open until Monday, 7 November 2016. You can complete the survey here.
