The Institute has recently been reflecting on this 2012 interview with the late Sir Paul Callaghan, one of New Zealand’s most remarkable scientists and a leading public figure.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is currently calling for feedback on its draft National Statement of Science Investment, a document that will shape the funding and direction of science in New Zealand over the next ten years. As we consider the future of New Zealand science, it is worth reflecting on Sir Paul’s commitment to both fundamental and applied research and his insistence on the importance of both to innovation in this country.
MBIE has requested that feedback on the draft NSSI be submitted by 22 August. More details and their feedback form can be found here.
